The results for the EGCS Annual Competitions have been announced and are based on milk records produced between 1st October 2008 and 30th September 2009.
There are two classes for the herd with the highest average weight of Fat + Protein and are for Large and Small herds.
The Tiresford Perpetual Trophy for the herd with more than 50 cows has been awarded to:
The Briddlesford herd of the Griffin family from the Isle of Wight which has given,
7295 kgs 4.91%F,3.50%P = 614 kgs F+P from 130 cows
The Reserve prize has been awarded to the Tredinney Herd of the Warren family from St Buryan, Cornwall which has given,
6911kgs,4.78%F, 3.62%P = 580 kgs F+P from 128 cows.
The Stockmans Trophy has been awarded to Paul Griffin
The Eric Rose of Leweston Perpetual Trophy for the herd with less than 50 cows has been awarded to,
The Blacknor Cracker herd of I&D Crouch
7041 kgs 4.47%F,3.49%P = 561 kgs F + P from 45 cows.
The Reserve has been awarded to the Upgate herd of Mrs Louise Edwards
6402 kgs 5.03%F,3.72%P = 560 kgs F+P from 7 cows.
These 7 Guernseys are managed alongside the Upgate Jersey herd of Frank and Sue Mahon which has for several years been the highest yeilding Jersey herd in the UK.
The third award for Guernsey herds is for the EGCS Special Award for the highest increase in weight of F+P in the recording year.
The winner is Mrs Louise Edwards whose Upgate herd has increased by 71kgs.F+P
The Reserve is Ken Hosking whose Trevider herd has increased by 64 kgs F+P
