Showmanship Championship at the Dairy Show

The evening before the Dairy Show sees the young people of all breeds competing in Handling classes with one class for young Holstein handlers followed by three classes that are open to all breeds split by the age of the handler.

There were several Future Golden Breeders competing with Bethan Senior standing third in the Junior Open class, with Jenny Paull in fourth place. The Seniors had just three competitors all from Devon with our two top showmen competing against Nikki Bishop. Nikki and Emma Greenslade had travelled to Guernsey Island in 2007 to help at the RGAS Royal Show and to show the Island youngsters the finer points of turn out and handling. Whilst in 2006 Laura Sales had also travelled to the Island in a similar capacity. These three young ladies in what is their final year as Young handlers put on a great display before Emma was given the top placing with Nicci in Reserve and Emma was then placed as overall Champion handler. Which is a great result for the breed and credit to all those who have given time to the training of the FGB in recent years.
