The 2009 Herd Competition results were announced on Weds.24th March and Colin Gleed was pleased to announce his winners with 26 herds involverd he inspected more than 4000 Guernsey cows ,heifers and calves,with herds from Cornwall,Devon,Dorset,Gloucester,Isle Of Wight and Wiltshire.
The competition is based on Production (Weight of Fat+Protein) ,Inspection and Calving Interval and the Youngstock are also judged on Inspection with those points added tom the total.
There are four sections of the main herd competition based on herd size and are awards for each of the sections and for Production and Inspection as well.
Index : A = Fat +Protein ; B = Calving Index (Max of 10) ; C= Inspection of Cows & Heifers ( Max 100); D = Inspection of Youngstock ( Max 100)
