The August 09 Guernsey Bull proofs were released by Dairy Co on the 23rd August 09 and show some encouraging figures for bulls selected for use in the Guernsey Global Breeding Plan(GGBP).
The top 2 bulls have again improved with more daughters and are now over 90% reliability in other words the proofs will not now change.
Full highlighted names will take you CDI proof page. highlighted single names will take you to progeny page.

Pedro has 46 daughters classified in England & Wales with 7 VG, 21 GP, 15 G and 3 below 75 points
Moving up to third place with his first published proof ( Reliability greater than 65%) is Beechgrove Cornelius with a GMI of 426 and a £PLI of £141.
Cornelius has 16 daughters in 9 herds and has a Reliability of 74%
Proof | Milk | F+P kgs | Fat% | Prot% | L/Ft | Prot | SCC | Fert I | £PLI | GMI |

Apr 09 | + 421 | +32.4 | 0.0 | -0.03 | 0 | -7.1 | £93 | 271 |
Cornelius has only 4 daughters classified in England & Wales and 3 are GP and 1 Good, his Guernsey Island daughters have been classified in the last month and we are awaiting the release of the results but it would seem that his proof justifies a second use of his semen but there is less than 300 straws available. Cornelius is the third generation of young bulls to have passed through GGBP with flying colours following his sire Sunninghill Park Royal Oak (GMI +372) and his Grandsire Jensgold Proking Royal Oak ( GMI + 397)
In fourth place with a rise of +73 GMI to +422 and a PLI of £119 is Riverwood Tiller Khan
Khan has 43 daughters in 16 herds and has a Reliability of 87%

Khan has 25 daughters classified in England & Wales with 19 Good Plus or better, there is semen available that is EU qualified and hopefully a decision will be made to import it shortly.
There are two more GGBP bulls with GMI’s of +400 the first of which is Tredinney Sonics Helium at +417 GMI and £117 PLI
Helium has 73 daughters in 24 herds and a Reliability of 93%
Proof | Milk | F+P kgs | Fat% | Prot% | L/Ft | Mamm | SCC | Fert I | £PLI | GMI |
Aug 09 | +363 | +43.5 | 0.17 | 0.08 | -0.8 | -0.05 | 2 | -0.5 | £117 | 417 |
Apr 09 | +333 | +42.5 | 0.19 | 0.09 | -0.09 | -0.07 | 1 | -1.4 | £103 | 406 |
Jan 09 | +360 | +39.5 | 0.12 | 0.07 | -1.1 | -0.9 | 2 | 0 | £90 | 358 |
Helium has 38 daughters classified in England & Wales and they are 4 VG, 14 GP, 10 G, 5 F and 5 below 70 points. As more daughters have been classified so the Linear Composites have improved slightly and his influence is probably going to be best harnessed through his VG daughters.
The final bull in this select group is Edgewater Meadows Yogibear with a GMI of +400 and a PLI of £127
Yogibear has 85 daughtrs in 34 herds and a Reliability of 94%
Proof | Milk | F+P kgs | Fat% | Prot% | L/Ft | Mamm | SCC | Fert I | £PLI | GMI |
Aug 09 | +393 | +36.8 | 0.08 | 0.01 | 0.9 | 2.3 | -3 | -4.4 | £127 | 400 |
Apr 09 | +329 | +31.3 | 0.09 | -0.01 | 0.8 | 2.1 | -1 | -2.3 | £95 | 334 |
Yogibear has 51 daughters classified in England & Wales and they are 14 VG, 24 GP, 7 G and 6 with less than 75 points. All stocks of semen sold quickly last autumn but we have used 4 UK bred sons with semen from possibly the best Tredinneys Yogis Prince still available.
These six bulls with GMI’s of over 400 represent a great opportunity for the breed as the target in 2001 when GGBP was launched was to identify bulls with more than +25 kgs Fat + Protein ( The top 5% of breed at that time) .The base change in 2005 reduced all of the above F+P figures by 11.6 kilos so when that is added back we have 5 Proven bulls with over 50 kgs F+P, more than two times the original target.
