The Senior Handlers 17- 22 years had 4 forward and Laura Sales was placed first with Ed Hosking second and Jonathan Hosken in third place.
Laura was named as Guernsey Champion and was placed Reserve Supreme behind the Holstein handler.
The standards continue to rise year on year and our young people can hold their own in what is a very competitive environment.
20 calves were present competing in four classes with 5 Junior Calves making a quality start to the day for Judge Stuart Ley.
In first place was Tredinney Princes After Eight 2 expertly shown by 6 year old Kerris Richards with Cadbury Royal Delta Victoria 2 in second place from Norman & Mills with Carne Holly 2 from the Hichens family in third place.
Class 6 Intermediate Calves
In first place was Norman & Mills Cadbury Hawk Onyx 2 with Tredinney Aarons Alicia 15 in second place and Tredinney Prince Milkmaid 11 in third place. With 7 calves forward this was the biggest class of the day.
Class 7 Senior Calf (6 forward)
This class provided a second win for Somerset with Hurdlebrook Anthony Zenelope 6 gaining a victory over Cadbury Hawk Pretty 86 who has had a busy season with Hurdlebrook Patricia 10 in third place.
The Mature calf had just two forward but they included a calf that had featured at the All Britain in February and it was Tredinney Prince Lillian 8 who stood first in front of Tredinney Buzzards Fiona 3.
The Championship saw the youngest leader Kerris Richards with one of the youngest calves Tredinney Princes After Eight 2 placed as Champion with Cadbury Hawks Onyx 2 as Reserve.
A fabulous show with a tremendous atmosphere and a good training ground for next months All Britain at Stoneleigh.
