Brian and Sheila Adams purchased 4 bulling heifers at the Shalford dispersal sale to graze on their smallholding at Curry Rivel in Somerset, one of these produced a heifer calf Wiltown Jay and she was the first female to be registered with the Wiltown prefix.

She is now part of the Hurdlebrook herd of David and Rosie Paull at Babcary in Somerset and Brian and Sheila regularly prepare and take animals from Hurdlebrook to support the local and national shows.

Jay has just calved her third calf (another bull) and yesterday was classified VG 86. Her dam Shalford 2 Jay 5 is also at Hurdlebrook and is also VG and the 4th dam Honingham Jay 44 by Jasper was classified Ex and a member of the winning Interbreed group of 4 that were the first Guernsey group to win at the Bath and West.

It has always been a pleasure to share Brian and Sheila’s enthusiasm for their Guernseys, and they have a Tiresford River daughter, Hurdlebrook Marigold 53, that is close to calving for the first time that looks good and whose ten year old dam Hurdlebrook Marigold 32 classified VG 85 yesterday.

In total Hurdlebrook produced 2 EX and 11VG at the Classification and there are a lot of good young cows developing in the herd, which I have had the pleasure to milk on a few occasions recently.
