Females with GMI’s of more than 350 Jan 09

 There are 118 Females with more than +350 GMI in the Jan 09 proofs released last week by Dairy Co.

They are in 28 different herds with the leading herds being:-

Briddlesford (21), Les Jaonnets (17) ,Tredinney (10),  Meadow Court(7), and Rosewood and Alderney with 6 females listed.

The cow in first place is one of the highest Classified at Ex 94 and is the first with a GMI of 600 and her son Chiltern Vale Artic is the highest scored Proven Sire (+487) she is:-

Wardour RO Fawn 2 EX 94  sire Jens. P Royal Oak

 In second place is probably the largest cow in the UK and she is at Les Jaonnets and has a GMI of +585 Oaks Fluff of Les Jaonnets  sire Jens. P Royal Oak

In third place is the highest placed daughter of Trotacre Jay Mr Luck, who has 21 daughters listed and she is from the Briddlesford herd on the Isle of Wight and has a GMI of +554

The fourth placed cow is also the youngest and is the highest placed daughter of Meadow Court Red Oak who with 11 daughters listed, unfortunately there was no semen available once he was proven, he has had one son used Trewarnevas Red Oak, but his influence will have to be captured through his best daughters.

The fifth cow with a GMI of over 500 is Classified Ex 90 and has an Ex 90 dam and again has a tremendous constitution, I had the pleasure of milking her (and Fawn) for 12 months and you did not stand between her and her food.

The 118 different females are sired by 32 different sires with Mr Luck (21) the leading sire, and MC Red Oak (11), Sniders Option Aaron (8) and Tiresford Pedro (7), Rozelyn Patmar Jay Glacier (7) with Jensgolden Proking Royal Oak and Sunninghill Park Royal Oak both having 6 daughters listed.

The average of the 118 daughters is a creditable

These females have been or will be the bull mothers that will take the breed forward and it does demonstrate that there is variety available provided the selection committee are diligent.
